 Mineralogy is a subject of geology specializing in the scientific study of the chemistry, crystal structure, and physical (including optical) properties of minerals and mineralized artifacts.   Silicates, oxides, sulfates, sulfides, carbonates, native elements, and halides are all major mineral groups.   Becoming a mineralogist requires at a minimum a college degree and often postgraduate work.  Magnetism   is a class of physical phenomena that are mediated by magnetic fields. Electric currents and the magnetic moments of elementary particles give rise to a magnetic field, which acts on other currents and magnetic moments. Magnetism is one aspect of the combined phenomenon of electromagnetism.   There are six basic types of magnetization: (1) diamagnetism, (2) paramagnetism, (3) ferromagnetism, (4) antiferromagnetism, (5) ferrimagnetism, and (6) superparamagnetism. Diamagnetism arises from the orbiting electrons surrounding each atomic nucleus.   Magnets don't need gravity or air. Instead, their power comes from the electromagnetic field they generate all by themselves.
