The word “husbandry” has nothing to do with marriage, at least not in this day and age. And it had nothing to do with marriage when it entered English in the late 13th century. In fact, the word “husband” itself didn't mean a married man when it first showed up around the year 1000.

Most likely do to the fact that you literally could never leave your farm if you choose this path in those years. So this word naturally evolved to mean-

or what is known today as a husband or wife. Your just called a farmer now and your not forced to stay on your land with the use of technology such as irrigation systems.

Animal husbandry is the branch of agriculture concerned with animals that are raised for meat, fibre, milk, eggs, or other products. It includes day-to-day care, selective breeding and the raising of livestock.
