Element
In chemistry, an element is a pure substance consisting only of atoms that all have the same numbers of protons in their atomic nuclei. Unlike chemical compounds, chemical elements cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means.
Medical Definition of element. 1 : any of the four substances air, water, fire, and earth formerly believed to compose the physical universe. 2 : a constituent part: as. a : any of more than 100 fundamental substances that consist of atoms of only one kind and that singly or in combination constitute all matter.
Examples
Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, gold, silver and iron are examples of elements.
Magic elements in Sci-Fiction would be something like Wind, Fire, Earth, and Water.
